It would probably help if it was made clear to server admins that the
toolserver is important to the e.V., and provides a valuable service to
the community. Requests have been shrugged off because "if it's not a
wiki, we don't care", or something to that effect.
ack.
I understand that neither the server admins nor the e.V. have the time
and resourced to always help immediately. But some "official" statement
about the toolserver would probably help - and maybe it would even be
useful to have a procedure for what to do if things get stalled - as for
instance with a big disk array sitting there and waiting for someone to
install it, for *months* now.
I have eMailed with the seller of the raidcard. The card is deliver
until February, so I guess it must be at the RZ. The problem is: Nobody
knows, when karc is going to the RZ next time to build in the card.
Maybe we can also manage the account policy in a
self-organized way: it was planned to revise all accounts in April. I'd
like to switch off inactive accounts to limit the users to people who
are really working with the toolserver - what do you think about it?
Well, DaB accepted the responsibility for looking at requests for new
account - not sure who will decide about existing ones. In any case, I
have created a rough overview of user activity: /home/daniel/login.log;
The data is taken from finger, so only real logins to a shell are
counted (I think) - the code is at /home/daniel/bin/users. Both files
should be accessible.
The date of 1.April is moved into future, because kate is busy at the
moment and had forgotten the date. When she a lower stresslevel, I will
speak with her, about whoms account will be delete. @Daniel: Thanks for
the log.
BTW: Kate told me, that she can read this ML, but not answer, because
there must be a error on the mailinglistserver. I have problems too.
