Hello all,
Nosy and I will visit the datacenter on short-term-base tomorrow and the day
after, to install the remaining hardware and for some maintenance [1]; this
will cause downtimes and rebootings between
Thursday: 15-24 o'clock UTC
Friday: 09-22 o'clock UTC.
For normal the reboots will be announced on the shell 5 minutes before they
happen, but accidents may happen; so please do not open files and leave your
computer. If you plan to do something that takes some time (like a long
download), please to it at night-times. If possible, use SGE [2] (you should
always do that).
We will try to be at IRC (at least from time to time), but we can not
guarantee that.
Sincerely,
DaB.

Hello all,
the next maintenance will be at
Wednesday, 8 February between 19:00 and 1:00 UTC.
The roots will collect what they will do at [1] until Sunday night. If you
have something for us to do (like a software-update) please open a bugreport
at JIRA and make sure to add the label "maintaince-window" until Sunday noon.
Sincerly,
DaB.

Hello all,
the toolserver had a short outtake today arround noon because there was a
problem with our 2 HA-nodes which control the LDAP, what is necessary for
login and file-rights. The problems started arround 13:10 and ended arround
13:40 (UTC).
Independently we also discovered that the file-system which carries z-dat-s4-a
was corrupted and so z-dat-s4-a can not start anymore and need a re-setup (we
have backups of the user-databases there); I will do that at Wednesday in the
maintenaice-window. Until then, s4 (commons) is accessable only for reading on
the other hosts.
Sincerly,
DaB.

Hello all,
in nearly 2 months it will not longer be allowed to run most langlink-bots
(aka interwiki-bots) on the toolserver for nearly all of you (see my old mail
below for details). To make it official I added a new rule 9.4 to our rule-page
short time ago and send this mail also to -announced.
The new rule forbids the running of any langlink-bot on the toolserver with
the following 2 exceptions:
*The bot is run by the MMP interwiki-bot (or however it will be called at the
end),
*The bot runs only for limited time (!=continuous) or testing.
Until now, no building of the needed MMP has taken place AFAIK, so I would
recommend to speed that up so there will be a MMP until 1. March.
Sincerly,
DaB.
