Hello world!
This is the first post to the toolhub-dev mailing list. Right now, this list has a small number of subscribers who are helping us bootstrap the concept of an "advisary council" for the development of Toolhub [0]. The initial council membership is:
* Bryan Davis, Principal Software Engineer, Technical Engagement * Srishti Sethi, Developer Advocate, Developer Advococacy * Keegan Peterzell, Tech Collaboration Specialist, Community Programs * Giuseppe Lavagetto, Principal Site Reliability Engineer, Service Operations * Sam Reed, Security Engineer, Security
We are hoping to add a few more folks from outside the WMF to the council in the coming weeks. I am especially interested in finding a technical volunteer who is a native speaker of a RTL language. I would also like someone who is an active volunteer editor to help advise on the user experience questions that will come up on using the tool, especially for patrolling workflows that it will need. Birgit and others will be helping us find these folks, but if any of you have ideas about specific people to fill open roles, specific sub-communities to think about recruiting from, or roles that are missing please do speak up.
I have made a few Phabricator tasks about high level research tasks that I would like this group to help with. These are listed under the project's Phabricator tag [1].
* T261017 - Determine basic hosting parameters for Toolhub * T261029 - Decide on UI framework(s) to start the project with * T261020 - Explore RTL language support issues * T261023 - Explore content moderation issues * T259838 - Explore translation options for Toolhub dynamic content
Feedback on these tasks is very much appreciated.
Procedurally I would like to try and keep discussion about tasks on the tasks themselves as much as possible. I will use this mailing list to poke the group about open issues as they come up beyond this first set. I think we should also use the mailing list to talk about meta issues of operating the council and for posting status updates on how work on the project is going. We will probably find other processes/procedures to add as we go along, but I hope we can get started with a light weight system and only add things that we find useful as we move along.
