I agree on the hashtag thing. For a brand like Wikimedia/Wikipedia, I suggest that they're only really appropriate when referring to an event or idea, e.g.,

Open knowledge, open ideas, our open future: join us at #wikimania2014 for the State of the Wiki.

As opposed to:

Open #knowledge, open #ideas, our open #future: join us at #wikimania2014 for the State of the #Wiki.

I think it’s probably a better idea to keep the Facebook and Twitter stuff independent since Facebook tends to be less … hashtaggy (?). If you know what I mean. So while Facebook uses hashtags I don’t think its users do quite as much as Twitter’s users do.

I think Michael and co. do a good job of keeping the two simultaneously updated, as well as the G+ profile which still exists for the time being ;)

That’s just my opinion though. Getting Wikipedia’s Twitter account a bit more active can’t be a bad thing, but I think our image possibly works against us a bit in that regard. (Hashtag-sprinkled stuff works for a certain age group and subculture but I think loses its appeal eventually, is what I’m trying to say.)

Absolutely! Also, is it possible to pull the twitter feed onto the Facebook pages? That way FB users can see what we have trending on twitter:)

I think that's great. Let's send one before it's not Thursday anymore :)

Do we want to mention Wikipedia, too? Facebook posts can obviously be longer if we like.

Hello,

My name is Halla and I'm the Communications intern in SF. I was thinking it would be cool to have throwback thursday posts trending/posted to our social media. Here's a post I think we could put up today:

Highlighting Wikimedia's history is a fun way is a great way to get people engaged. There are a ton of trends on twitter/facebook that we could take advantage of.

Let me know what you think:)

Best,
