Hi Joe,

Good suggestion - we can retweet @wikidata. On this issue, we're following the lead of the Germans who manage Wikidata and have deep insight into the community so best to just amplify their message for now.

Thanks!

Not going to lie, this is totally over my head technically — but on the face of it this seems like a big story.

Might be an idea to retweet @wikidata (https://twitter.com/wikidata/status/544937681567117313) or @WikimediaDE (https://twitter.com/WikimediaDE/status/544935659006607360)?

Hi guys,

Here’s another piece of movement news that seems worth spreading in social media:

Google just announced plans to wind down its Freebase service and to transfer the Freebase data in to Wikidata in mid-2015.

This may sound a bid geeky, but it’s a big deal because it shows wide adoption of our open source structured data format by an industry giant.

t: Goodbye Freebase, hello Wikidata! Kudos to everyone at @wikidata for this great achievement !

I tweeted it here, if you want to simply retweet:

This lead comes courtesy of Andrew Lih, who has a very keen eye for important Wikimedia stories :)

Cheers,

Fabrice
