Wikipedia would like to thank PHP for allowing us to display hieroglyphics on Egyptology pages and handling sheet music.

context:PHP allowed people who weren’t—or were barely—software engineers to contribute new features. It’s how Wikipedia entries came to display hieroglyphics on Egyptology pages, for instance, and handle sheet music.

Wikipedia has come a long way, but we never forget our roots. PHP has been our backbone and the driving force behind our free knowledge movement.

Thanks,
