Hello everyone again,
Today, November 19th, is World Toilet Day, a sponsored awareness campaign
by the United Nations for sanitation health. Here's their tweet:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Dorsey
I'm putting it to the list if or how we should acknowledge this day while
keeping within our tone of being respectful and somewhat informative–social
media can be bit of a gawk-fest from what I've seen; but also important
since lack of access to sanitation impacts health, dignity, and safety.
Fb: Since 2001, World Toilet Day has been raising awareness about the
importance of access to proper sanitation. It is estimated that 1/3 people
in the world lack proper facilities.

Hello everyone,
Sorry for blasting you with social media propositions– Gonna try to get
these all in one punch. Will schedule these out early tomorrow morning.
Thank you for reviewing!

was formed

This would have been better for me to find yesterday (it was the Monday
media of the day on commons) but
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Private_Life_of_a_Cat.ogv is oddly
addictive and (less oddly) adorable :). It's a 20 minute public domain
video following a cat having and bringing up her new kittens that was
uploaded a couple days ago (transferred from the Internet Archive). Given
the relatively universal love of cat videos online I always think some
new/fitting ones work well and it's been a while since we posted one.
I'm far to tired so not doing great thinking up SM messages atm but thought
I'd post this now in case those awake before me have a fresher mind and if
not I'll chime in when I get up/into office :). Would be awesome if we
could uploaded it natively I imagine, we can get an already converted mp4
version on Internet Archive <https://archive.org/details/PrivateL1947>.

Hello everyone,
Here's some proposed social media for our flagship accounts. Thank you for

Calvin, 16th-century French Reformation theologian, and Thomas Hobbes, a
17th-century English political philosopher?

I think I heard that someone was writing guidelines for WMF blog posts.
This seems like a reasonable guide so perhaps you could add it as a "see
also" link in the WMF guideline document:

I have no personal or professional relationship with the author or the
publisher of that piece. If anyone has better suggestions or differing
opinions I'd like to hear them!
Thanks,

Twitter has introduced a polls feature. Should we ask?
- Have you ever edited a Wikipedia article?
- True or false: Anyone can edit any Wikipedia article
- Do you use Wikipedia on your phone?
- Does Wikipedia employ paid editors, yes or no?
Something else?

Hello everyone,
Today, November 9th, is Carl Sagan's birthday. I think we all love Sagan
enough to give his birthday a shout-out from Wikipedia Fb and @Wikipedia.
Here's some proposed copy, but I know we have a following of Sagan, so feel
free to jump in! Thanks for reviewing.
Fb: "A central lesson of science is that to understand complex issues (or
even simple ones), we must try to free our minds of dogma and to guarantee
the freedom to publish, to contradict, and to experiment. Arguments from
authority are unacceptable." - Carl Sagan. Today is his birthday!

Fb: Carl Sagan's ability to convey his ideas allowed many people to
understand the cosmos better—simultaneously emphasizing the value and
worthiness of the human race, and the relative insignificance of the Earth
in comparison to the Universe. Today is Carl Sagan's Birthday!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Sagan
Fb: In addition to being an award-winning astronomer, Sagan is also
remembered for being the charismatic host of the PBS series,Cosmos: A
Personal Voyage, which has been broadcasted in more than 60 countries and
seen by over 500 million people. Happy Birthday, Carl Sagan!

This Sunday would have been Aaron Swartz's 29th birthday—a Wikipedian and
social activist who died in 2013. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Swartz
.
I'd like to publish a blog post about Aaron that day—specifically, updating
and republishing the article I wrote for the Signpost two years ago after
his death. However, I'm looking for opinions on whether this is a good or
poor idea.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/2013-01-14/Speci…
Please feel free to send me your thoughts directly if you would rather not
express them on a public list.
Thanks, everyone.
