Hello,
summarizing our IRC discussion here. I'm still not sure what exactly "Wikivoyage mode" is. However, I'm not going to enable it on eswiki, for two reasons:
- it is explicitly discouraged in the config,
- it is called "Wikivoyage mode", and eswiki is not a Wikivoyage.
wgKartographerStaticMapframe = false will likely enable dynamic maps, like at commonswiki. I'm not sure if changing this variable has any performance impact -- but considering this variable is set to false at much larger wikis, like commonswiki, it is probably not an issue.
In my opinion, this is a classic example of the XY problem. As soon as a ticket is created about this, my first question will be "Why do you want this configuration"?

Sorry, the [1] link in my previous message was incorrect. It should've pointed to https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/operations/mediawiki-config/+/284483 instead. Apologies.

Hello,
I'd like to inquire if the prohibition [1] to enable wgKartographerWikivoyageMode on more wikis is still valid as of today.
An eswiki user organised a vote [2] to change the wiki config to the following values:
* $wgKartographerWikivoyageMode = true;
* $wgKartographerStaticMapframe = false;
* $wgKartographerEnableMapFrame = false;
To avoid spending time in something that might not be possible, may I ask if any of their proposals can be done?
If $wgKartographerWikivoyageMode is still banned for further further wikis; what effects would have setting the later two configs to `false`?
Thanks for your help/advice on this matter.
Best regards,
Marco.
