I haven't seen this particular piece of news [1] mentioned on this list,
so I decided to share.
In 2016 France introduced a new image right that allows entities managing
buildings to control the commercial use of their images. [2]
Wikimédia France and La Quadrature du Net [3] believe that this law
conflicts with the free use of public domain works and thus of images of
castles, for instance. They have therefore filed a *Question prioritaire
de constitutionnalité*. [4] This means that they are asking the highest
constitutional authority in France about the constitutionality of these
provisions. The goal is to get the law annulled.
