Hello everyone,

(I think that this is my first email to the list, so a quick intro: my name is Alek, I’m Public Lead of CC Poland, I run a Polish organisation called Centrum Cyfrowe - where we do copyright and PSI reuse policy, and I’m a member of the Admin Council of Communia, the European Association for the Digital Public Domain)

I think that copyright is not yet boring, and this and next year exceptions and limitation will, and should be, a big subject. we should endeavour to think big about how they should work, and make an effort to have them as prominent as possible in the reform that should be launched later this year.
I also think that there’s a big subject about how open licensing / open policies and copyright law (L&Es in particular) work together. this is a question of overlapping / possibly conflicting policies. it’s also a practical matter of making people who are aware about open also interested in copyright reform issues (Dimi, your work on FoP is a good example of such approach).

all the best,

Alek

Hello everybody,

Yours truly has been invited to help out as public policy liaison to the Programme Committee of Wikimania Esino Lario.[1]

This means that, apart from looking for the best possible speaker to give a "digest" presentation on the topic of internet censorship, I need to figure out what you would like to focus on next year.

We do now have our BIG 5 [2] and want to dig into the censorship area, but what else? More copyright or is it getting boring? Which other topics need to be scheduled? Just presentations or more specific workshops and skill-sharing exercises? Any speakers you really, really want us to invite?

Please think about it and let me know what you think we should hear and learn next year.

Best,
Dimi
