Hello!
You're receiving this message because you mentioned an interest in Wikipedia or other Wikimedia projects in your application to attend OpenCon 2015.
We've submitted a project & events grant proposal to the Wikimedia Foundation to support the attendance of 8 representatives of the Wikimedia community at this year's OpenCon conference in Washington, DC. The grant is now open for review, and we would welcome your comments on the proposal and, if you're supportive, your endorsement as well. You can find the proposal at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG/SPARC/OpenCon_2016
Support from the community will help ensure the proposal is fully funded.
Most importantly, I hope you'll consider applying to OpenCon again this year, if you haven't already. We think it's important to build strong bridges between the Wikimedia community and the Open Access, Open Data, and Open Education communities—for the benefit of both. If this grant proposal is successful, we will be able to ensure a robust Wikimedia presence at this year's OpenCon, and we hope you'll submit an application to be considered. Applications close this coming Monday, July 11, so be sure to apply soon!
You can find this year's application at
https://secure.opencon2016.org/referral/wiki and if you mention Wikipedia or Wikimedia in your application, it will automatically be flagged for consideration for this block of scholarships, if supported by the Wikimedia Foundation (even if you've already applied). Also, please share this call for applications with any other Wikimedians who might be interested!
All the best,
Nick
