Hi Luis,
We submitted feedback as Wikimedia (FKAGEU):
Our main point was to bring attention to ORES with its "feature injection" functionality and call for similar approaches to public sector AI. Beyond that we commented that obligations are often attached to "providers" while it is unclear from the text who they are: the developer, the operator or the trader of the software? This point was especially important to the consumer protection organisations as well, so we picked it up from the. We also took the stance that it wouldn't be bad to know which regulator is responsible. In this regard we mention the European Data Protection Board, in alignment with our digital rights partners (and the Board itself).
Currently we are waiting for negotiations to start in the European Parliament. There is a fight over committee competencies, but MEP Benifei (IT S&D) will be the rapporteur. We have prepared, together with the FSFE, a set of amendment proposals we want to pitch to him (probably next month for tactical reasons). You and everyone else may
have a look and feel free to suggest additional things. We are likely to support amendments by the consumer protection organisations as well.
I am also
keeping a folder where some of our main positions and ideas over the years are chronologically arranged. For tactical purposes this is not on Meta, but it might be time to move them over. By now I could claim that it is much harder to find things on Meta than on this mailing list.
Cheers,
Dimi
