The Programme Officer will be expected to perform the following duties:


Program Support:

  • Represent company brands in conferences, meetings, and workshops.

  • Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for programs.

  • Identify and contact potential grantees for funding of projects.

  • Identify and contact new program partners for organizations’ growth.

  • Plan and execute program activities in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Conduct program reviews and prepare reports.

  • Prepare meeting agenda, organize meetings and distribute minutes.

  • Manage a community of volunteers and provide mentorship where needed.

  • Develop management tools that can be adapted for other programs as needed, e.g., travel and budget tracking tools, partner communication or consultant approval templates, create systems for, and help manage sub-contracts and sub-grants.

  • Ensure an updated membership database, provide information, and keep the community updated on projects and activities.


Evaluation: 

  • Conduct regular evaluations of our community to identify opportunities and pain points of our community.

  • Utilize a collaborative, adaptive, and progressive learning approach to continually assess project progress. 

  • Provide data quality control for the organization’s community database, project management database, and other relevant data. 

  • Support and build on the organization’s monitoring and evaluation strategy and framework. Collect and analyze projects data and prepare for use in promotional materials, publications, events, and other reports


Partnership Support

  • Maintain existing partnerships and grow the organization’s network of strategic partners

  • Maintain strong relationships with project partners, providing technical assistance, appreciative coaching, listening, and empathy throughout the implementation



QUALIFICATIONS


The Program Officer will be mission-driven, team-oriented, and have a can-do approach in supporting the growth of an innovative and growing organization in a variety of ways. Candidates should possess excellent analytical skills, strong writing skills, excellent time management, interpersonal skills, and be dedicated to promoting global grassroots development. Key values include consistency, commitment, energy, and positivity.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required

  • A minimum of 2 years of program management experience

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

  • Comfortable working in teams as well as acting independently in the implementation of specific tasks, multitasking and prioritizing, working under pressure and meeting deadlines

  • Able to work well with culturally and geographically diverse staff and partners

  • Experienced, efficient, and organized in online and remote work

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, and ability to learn new technologies and software quickly, including bespoke solutions.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including editing skills

  • Having knowledge of Wikimedia projects is an added advantage


It will be better if you had:

  • Critical thinking and decision making

  • Ability to conduct research and analyze data 

  • Experience working with the Wikimedia communities 

  • Experience with community organizing and public facilitation

  • Understanding of effective teaching methodologies and tools
