== MediaViewer release changes ==
We have pushed back some of the planned MediaViewer releases to have more time to address some concerns from the community while still keep the current prioritization in which we spend one third of our time on MediaViewer, one third on UploadWizard and one third on bigger-picture issues around file handling. Fabrice already wrote about this in more detail [1].
== Background work ==
Last week was mostly background work which is probably less interesting to users. We made our automated tests run in more kinds of browsers [2], and as a result caught and fixed a bug in IE9 [3]; based on reports from the community, we fixed more bugs in IE9 [4] and Safari [5], and cleaned up our metrics dashboard [6] and unit testing [7] code.
== Load handling ==
We did some research on the effect of chained image scaling on perceived quality (see the thread about mip-mapping on this list for more details) which seems to be a promising method to improve thumbnailing speed and make the thumbnail rendering servers handle high loads better.
We also investigated the load caused by deploying MediaViewer on some larger wikis; based on that, the deployment to enwiki does not seem to be a cause for concern. [9]
== Zoom troubles ==
We implemented and tested a simple way to access the full-sized image from MediaViewer [9]; due to UX concerns, we are currently not planning to keep it. Depending on which wiki you are looking at, you might see it around for a few more days.
== Code review ==
We have continued working down our code review backlog, mostly concentrating on UploadWizard and GWToolset patches.
