Hi, as a measure to standardise our URLs, I've
introduced[1] a new
special page to change mobile site options, Special:MobileOptions.
*Hooray!*
Currently, it handles only beta features opt in/out.
For example, to
enable beta features, you need to visit
[[Special:MobileOptions/BetaOptIn]] which is much clearer than the old
schema with urls like[2].
You're correct, "/Special:MobileOptions/BetaOptIn" does indeed look a lot
nicer than "?mobileaction=opt_in_mobile_site".
However, this change invalidates the old
URLs. The question is what shall we do with them:
* Create b/c redirects to special pages
+1
So, "?mobileaction=opt_in_mobile_site", should just redirect users to
"/Special:MobileOptions/BetaOptIn".
* Use the opportunity to add beta links somewhere in
UI
+1
We should have this by now — maybe in the footer (utilizing an icon or
something.)
* Change the blog post to point to new opt-in URLs
Modifying it doesn't make too much sense now.
* Do nothing, that post was too long ago
?
