The current release of the Wikipedia Android app will be the last to support Android 5 (Lollipop, API 22, 21) and earlier. Starting with our next release, roughly two weeks from now, all updates will require Android 6 (Marshmallow, API 23) or newer.

Note that devices running Android 5 will still be able to obtain the app from the Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.wikipedia; but it will simply be "frozen" at the current version, and will no longer receive updates. As always, in addition to the Play Store, you can find the app on F-Droid https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.wikipedia/, or download it https://releases.wikimedia.org/mobile/android/wikipedia/stable/ manually.
