Hello mobile Wikimedians,
The Wikipedia iOS app team is excited to announce two releases today.
We released version 5.1.1 to the App Store [1]. This is a small update which addresses some instability introduced in our last release, particularly for iPad users.
We also released our upcoming 5.2.0 version to beta testers on TestFlight. This version is targeted for release alongside the iOS 10 update, and includes compatibility fixes for iOS 10, as well as 2 new "widgets" for the Today screen:
- Continue Reading: pick up right where you left off, right from your phone's lock screen.
- Top Read: see the top 3 articles from your primary language, alongside your agenda, news headlines and weather. Make checking what's trending on the wiki part of your daily routine, without even needing to open the app.
To enable these widgets you will need to be on the iOS 10 public beta[2]. Once you've updated, go to the bottom of your lock screens "Today" view and tap "Edit". The two Wikipedia widgets should be available for you to add, place or remove in your Today view.
If you are not a beta tester, but would like to be, please sign up here[3] and we will add you to our next update.
As always we appreciate your feedback and testing, particularly from iOS 10 "early adopters."
Thanks,
Josh Minor
