Minor correction: The rest.wikimedia.org entry point is deprecated, and will be disabled very soon. The app (and other consumers) are using the main project domains instead:

https://en.wikipedia.org/api/rest_v1/?doc#/Mobile

This way, clients see better performance by sharing DNS & SPDY/HTTP2 connections with the main projects.
