Daily unique devices estimate for English Wikipedia:

Is this a median of the daily figure over the course of the month, an average or what?
See the intro: "All numbers below are averages for April 25-July 31, 2016 unless otherwise noted."

various countries. Unfortunately this public attention has not
translated into a lot of downloads - we estimate around 3000

Do we know if some users were reactivated, i.e. tried the app again for the first time in a while despite having installed it earlier? Would that show up in the "Unique app users" figure?

Yes, these would show up in the unique app users figure (but not in the download/install metric that was discussed in this section; it's about first-time installs only). It's a reasonable hypothesis that media attention should cause some users to reactivate the app and we could conceivably investigate it using data from the MobileWikiAppDailyStats schema. But considering that the daily active user number did not show a marked rise either around the time of the launch, it is unlikely that we would find a significant effect.
