I've banned the email address below. There's a sustained signup bot targeting lists ( see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)&oldid=840688686#Possible_spambots_targeting_Wikimedia_mailing_lists ). It's unclear if this email address was a recent signup from that signup bot, but the email smells of malice.
This list is intentionally open for signup without the approver of a list administrator. I don't want us to have to approve every single member signing up.
For what it's worth, the anti-junk capabilities of the mailman software, as well as most recipients' email providers, should generally suppress junk email even if the source account was setup under the signup bots, although there's no way to guarantee perfect protection. As always, treat attachments with suspicion and double check links before clicking.
