How long are mobile edits?

Hi, Did anybody try to count how long are mobile edits? How many characters do people actually type when they edit wiki pages through mobile web and mobile apps? Or, more precisely, how many meaningful keystrokes? A simplistic way would be to measure the number of added characters, but that's not quite correct, because deleting a wrong letter and typing a correct one looks like zero added characters, but actually it's at least two meaningful keystrokes. Hi, Do we have statistics about where people are mobile-editing Wikimedia projects from? Are there countries where people read Wikimedia projects on mobile devices a lot, but edit little or not at all? Also, is editing enabled through Wikipedia Zero? Do we have statistics about the screen resolution that people are using when they are browsing Wikipedia from mobile devices? whitelist for UI translation

Hi, Can anybody please remind me why do we have a whitelist for languages into which the Wikipedia apps can be translated? Is it because Android and iOS only support certain locales at the OS level and it's impossible to customize them? I'm also quite happy with the alpha version, too, so I won't be installing the stable app any time soon. But just to make sure: I am talking about the feature that lets you look up a short snippet of the article when you tap on an internal link. Swiping from the right lets me see the article's table of contents, and swiping from the left shows a menu with the 'History', 'Nearby' and 'Random' options, so perhaps we're talking about two diffe rent things? :-) -- Tomasz

Fyi, mobile team :) @tomasz: If you would like to see this on your desktop: It's available as a Beta Feature called "Hovercards", see: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Beta_Features/Hovercards And on mobile in alpha mode: Tap the hamburger menu (3 lines on the top left), click settings and enable the beta mode. Apps for Kindle and Windows

Hi Mobilizers, 1. Do you think it would make sense to develop a Wikipedia app for Kindle, or to encourage Amazon to do so or financially sponsor its development? 2. Same questions for Windows and Microsoft, especially considering the Windows 10 launch. Thanks, Pine

Going to land ogv.js into TimedMediaHandler if no one objects

I've done some more fixes to ogv.js to perform *much* smoother on slower machines by running the decoders in Web Worker threads. If there's no objection, I'm going to land ogv.js (and a number of smaller fixes for media playback) into TimedMediaHandler later today. ogv.js is a JavaScript compatibility shim for Ogg and WebM video in Safari and IE/Edge which don't support free codecs natively. (IE/Edge on desktop can use native WebM components if you install them manually but still lack Ogg audio support.) This replaces the old Cortado Java applet that no longer works on most current computers. Please feel free to help review and test!
