thanks for your reply. i don't think i quite understand how to
separate out /w/ and /wiki/. at the moment i have mediawiki
installed at /wiki/ right out of the box. the rewrite rules are
in /wiki/.htaccess, and LocalSettings.php are appropriately tweaked.
($wqArticlePath=/wiki/$1;)
i still haven't figured out how to put the scripts and the images
somewhere else not accessible directly.
