Dear Wiki Lovers
I am looking for a spellcheker for my current MediaWiki installation, I have read details on ones from years ago but nothing seems current. It would have to be a server-side installation I would guess?
If anyone has experience of this your help would be appreciated.

Perhaps the spelling checker in Firefox 2.0 will be just what you need. Only I don't know what it'll do with the Wiki mark-up. Experiments suggest that it will work great.

I have tried to install WikiSpeller (http://collaborate.extension.org/wiki/WikiSpeller) without success so far.
I am using suitable versions of MediaWiki etc. but the installation guides are very brief and cannot find any help elsewhere.
The only instruction is to add 'include_once('extensions/WikiSpeller/WikiSpeller.php')' to LocalSettings.php.
There is also, however, a 'docs' folder with lots of files within.
If anyone can assist in helping exactly where everything goes and what needs changed with a little more detail I would be very grateful.

I was able to get it working with no special settings. What OS and http server are you running this on? Are there any errors showing up in your logs?

I think it is just an installation error on my part but maybe not. All I have done is change the LocalSettings file and upload the file /extensions/WikiSpeller/WikiSpeller.php.
I don't think it can be that easy as there are a lot more files in the tarball file I have not used.

The "gs" directory is also needed from the tarball. My installations have a directory created in the "extensions" directory named "WikiSpeller". In this directory is the file Wikispeller.php and the "gs" directory from the distribution tarball.
