copied the three related functions into my skin class, tweaked it a bit, works! I don't understand it completely, but right now it looks just like it should...

For skinning mediawiki you really need php abilities, at least in reading it...could/should be easier ;-)

This is pretty much why I hate the addition of categorieshtml to the api and dislike the way we use catlinks.

for my skin I would like to move the category links of a page into the sidebar, looking like the other boxes in there. However, the markup is not really suitable for styling since I don't want the | seperators and the : at the beginning. I would prefer having an<ul> with all the links inside. How can I do that with as little php as possible?
