I have php/mysql hosting and they do not let me give everyone write access to a directory. MediaWiki can't write LocalSettings.php to it's configuration directory, so I can't set it up. I know phpBB detects to see if you have write access, and if not it lets you download config.php for you to ftp. Are there any modifications or things in the cvs that will do that, or are there any ways around this?

Remove the initial checks for a writable directory and it should print out the info at the end.
