Hello, I created a testwiki V1.16.0beta3 by cloning my working wiki (1.15.0), then executed a "classic" upgrade by first copying ... $ tar xvfz <mw1.16b3> -C /path/to/my/wiki/ --strip-components=1 ... then running the maintenace script ... $ php update.php --aconf ../AdminSettings.php Everything went smooth and ... - "Special:Version" reports "1.16.0beta3" - in my own preferences I can select the new vector skin But I'm missing ... - editing toolbar improvements - link wizard - table wizard - collapsing items in navigation menu (Vector skin) Do I have to enable this via LocalSettings.php? Do I have to install some additional extensions? TIA, Peter

It needs to be documented in http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:UsabilityInitiative Add to LocalSettings.php $wgVectorModules['collapsiblenav']['user'] = true; or $wgVectorModules['collapsiblenav']['global'] = true;

Collapsible nav doesn't work in 1.16 without modifying the Javascript. To fix this, replace all instances of #mw-panel with #panel in Vector/Vector.combined.min.js, Vector/Vector.combined.js, Vector/Modules/CollapsibleNav/CollapsibleNav.js, css/combined.min.css, css/combined.css, and css/vector.collapsibleNav.css. Found a small glitch: Label right of checkbox "Use Collapsible Menues" is not localized and looks like "<vector-collapsiblenav-preference>" now. Nevertheless I'm really happy that the menues are working as expected now! Cheers, Peter

I had to step back, 'cause the side effects are intolerable: - searchbox is filled with rubbish - some labels are undecipherable for my users - some new edit features are unusable Sad to say, but I'm still not able to use collapsible nav. Then take from location ... http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/branches/REL1_16/extensions/ ... directory ... UsabilityInitiative ... and copy it to your own "extensions" directory.
