Note that it's trivial for a bot to create an account and log in. If enough people require logins, the spambots _will_ do this.

i do not think it is trivial for spam-bots to create an account if you check it can read a generated image. many sites like yahoo require such check and provide some alternative for visually impaired users. i attached an example.
do you think such a check would make sense?
