Why does the button in MediaWiki say "Save Page"?
I might be editing a section, so it could say "Save Section" or maybe "Save"....

Ok but the section is a part of page. You can't save section without affecting whole page. So you save the whole page, even when you are editing just a section.

I believe that Mediawiki allows editing in parallel....
Person A edits Section 1
Person B edits Section 2
Person C edits Section 3
etc
This can happen concurrently. Hence, Person X changes the section, but all he changes in total change the page?

Correction:

Guys, seriously ... Its just a label for a button. If you don't like it, you can change it in Special:AllMessages - it's called: "savedarticle" :-)

He changes the whole page. In such situation MediaWiki is usually able to merge the sections by itself, but each of them is a full page save. It gets exposed in the fact that when there's an edit conflict, you will get the whole page even if you were editing just a section. But really, this is low-level stuff which the users shouldn't be concerned with. You can rename it to "Save text" if you want.
