I understand that an overhaul of the current access control is planned, which can put users and pages in access control groups. But this won't happen until 1.5 or later.
I'm wondering if I can easily implement access control based on Categories as an interim solution: pages belong to a specific category can't be viewed or edited without logon.
Is this doable? If so, which php files are the starting point I need to hack? -- John

Title.php, functions userCanEdit() and userCanRead().

Great! Hmm, how to find out if a page is linked to a category? -- John

You'll need to query the "categorylinks" table in the database, I believe.
