Dear Wikimedia developers,
Last week some of you received a mails asking to participate in a
quick survey to help us on an effort estimation model for free
software/open source projects. Due to a bug in our code, some of you
received our mail several times, which we are very sorry about,
because we know how annoying this is.
So far, 72 Wikimedia developers have responded. We plan to send a
reminder e-mail to those who haven't participanted so far, and would
kindly ask them to devote the 2-3 minutes that it takes to fill out
the six questions of the survey. This will help us a lot. Thank you in
advance.
Some more information on our research and on the survey:
The e-mail addresses of the selected developers have been obtained
by analyzing the Wikimedia git repository [1], as our effort estimation
model is based on its activity - the input obtained from the survey
will really serve to calibrate and validate the model. If you are
curious about our model and how it works, you can see in the web page
the results of the survey we did on OpenStack a few weeks ago [2].
We will provide the findings of our research to those participants
who wish to be informed abou them -- there is a last checkbox in the
survey that you can tick if you are interested.
If you have any questions, suggestions or comments on the survey,
our research or the model, please, feel free to contact us [3]. We will
be
very happy to hear your feedback.
Thank you in advance,
