Can the WikiaMiniUpload extension for Wikia be used on MediaWiki, out of the box or even with some hacks?
I have integrated CKeditor and would like to put a button triggering WikiaMiniUpload, which is really cool: can this be done, or could you give me some directions, and could you tell me if you have some reason to think that this is hard to accomplish?
If your suggestions have to be towards a give up direction, do you know something like WikiaMiniUpload that I could use as a replacement?

Nice to see you're using our extensions. Yay us!
Now, I must say I haven't ever tried to use WMU outside the Wikia codebase. But, apart from the need for YUI, it should run on vanilla MediaWiki just fine.
If it happens to blow up on you for some reason, drop me a line with any errors you get and I'll try to help, or at least steer you in the right direction.

Also, you can find it, working :), on any Wikia site -- just pick one from http://www.wikia.com/ -- then go to edit mode and click the image upload icon.
Note, if you want to do real upload testing, I would suggest creating a new wiki (link on main page) or using http://communitytest.wikia.com/ so as not to disturb any existing community with dummy uploads.
Oh very glad to hear, what a refreshing reply! The need for YUI is not a problem as I'm already loading it, so I'll try to make WMU work on my environment (not now, though). I'll let you know also if I succeed, not only if I'll meet problems :) Thanks,
I'm sorry Łukasz but the short story is I haven't succeeded in using the WikiaMiniUpload extension in MediaWiki. It would be too much long and hard to remember all the errors I've encountered in my attempt, because I started integrating one after the other several parts of the monaco skin and wikia codebase as the errors popped out, until I had to give up because I couldn't see how far it was from working and I had difficulties in figuring out how to continue on that path.
Since I'm pretty sure this is a bigger job than extimated, please trash this request if you're busy with something else or not in the right mood. I do repeat, pass on this if you don't have a significant amount of time. Otherwise, if it happens that you can do some attempts, let me know if you succeed in having it working (no need for toolbar integration, just a link clicking which the WikiaMiniUpload popup appears would be nice).

Oh cool, I didn't even realize you use CKEditor, I was doing it my way :) But your one is special: wiki text... I must say that you have done a damn good job with all that stuff for Wikia.
