The screen recorder alone would only be of use when you have a root
server with full access, because a lot of the screencast creation
process is done by server-side software, like encoders.

Sure. I think something like this would be potentially very useful for
Wikipedia & other Wikimedia wikis, if it could be built as a 100% open
source toolchain. It would be cool for purposes such as building wiki
tutorials directly in the wiki.
