If you are going to use only 1 template for all new articles then
Boilerplate should work for you. If you have multiple templates, I have
implemented an extension BoilerplateSelection which uses the title of
the article to determine which template to use.

Subject: [Mediawiki-l] Template for All New Pages
I have been looking through
mediawiki.org but didn't find the info on my
question.
I would love to have the wiki (by extention if necessary) open up new
edit
windows and be populated by certain format criteria that it would be
nice if
the users followed.
Such as a title field, maybe a contents block, and some information.
Then
they can write whatever they want. This kinda makes it easier to read.
And
some users are not so web savy that they will do this naturally.
Does something like this exist? Maybe a template?
thanks.
