Just use four rather than five tildes.
~~~ expands to just the user name.
~~~~ expands to the user name and time stamp.
The extra tilde just gets "expanded" to an extra tilde

I recently installed MediaWiki 1.4beta3 on the NSwiki (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php). This was an upgrade from MediaWiki 1.3.9.
