I heard a rumour that the evil Wikia Empire had hired people to work
on WYKIWYG (spelling might be wrong here), and that it was under
active development. I haven't heard much from that, although Jason
Richey (one of Wikia's people) checked an initial version into
Subversion.
There is certainly a large camp of people pushing for proper WYSIWYG
support, and I rather suspect that we'll have a solid, compatible, and
mostly reliable implementation within the next year or so.
