But It dosnt work. - not sure why. I guess I need to do something to just run ./lsearchd

As much as the other options (screen, nohup) will work, you shouldn't do it
Write a service. If you use screen or nohup, the daemon will not persist
If I get some time I may write one. This is the kind of thing that would be
nice to have checked into the repository (along with deb and rpm source
