FreeBSD 5.3
MediaWiki 1.3.9
I recommend you try MediaWiki 1.4.beta, as many installation problems
are resolved.
MySQL 4.1.7
There are many problems with MySQL 4.1. Use 4.0 if you don't need 4.1.
Check that PHP was compiled with the MySQL 4.1 client libraries: make a
script with <?php phpinfo() ?> and check for the MySQL section and see
what client version it lists. If it's not 4.1.something, you will
probably have problems. See
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/Old_client.html for some background
and hints. You can recompile PHP and force it to use the installed
client libraries to update it.
MySQL 4.1's character set options may also cause trouble, particularly
if its default charset is set to UTF-8.
PHP 4.1.10
I hope you mean 4.3.10! :)
Check for potential problem settings like safe_mode, open_basedir, etc.
Check the MySQL client above.
