The situation is this: I have a website that links to a page inside my
wiki. Problem is that in order to see this page, you need to be logged
in. I don't have the option of keeping this wiki secrete or only letting
certain individuals know that I have an unprotected page in my wiki.
So then, the goal is to be able to somehow log in into my wiki without
using the log in page. Something along the lines of passing certain
parameters in the header. Is this possible? Has anyone done something
along the lines of my goal?
Any help is appreciated.
Steve

If one just use

tags (or
indentation implying the same!)
between list elements, the list continuity is lost.
(e.g. Numbered list
will be broken here and will start at 1. in the next item!). There used
to be a work around for this:
# one
# two <nowiki>
</nowiki>
<nowiki>
TMP
</nowiki>

# three
as said in
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:List
you could use :
#one
#two
#:
bla bla

#three
the #: is # + colon (":")
note : this put an indent before the
block

Hello everybody!
this is my frist mail and I have a big problem!
I can't use media wiki to do the restoration of wikipedia dump into my
mysql database.
So I use mwdumper, but it doesn't work very well. It inserts first
280,000 pages and not the others. During the execution of the process,
it runs slowly, for the first 280,000 pages, because, in my opinion,
it works well. Then it begins to go fastly and it ends after little
time...
The problem is that once the pages it inserts are 280,000, other time
49,000, and everytime I try to do the restoration, this number
changed.
I think the problem is with mysql, with the management of the tails
and the buffer in input, but I don't know what I could do.
If someone can help me, please answers to the mail, thanks a lot.

Similar question to Dinth's, but rather than
actually rename the "Main
Page", how can I not have the page display the words "Main Page". I
would
like the sort of effect that Wikipedia has that the
Main Page is called
main page but does not display the words. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
Add the following code to your monobook.js file
[[Mediawiki:monobook.js]]:
/* BEGIN */
// Remove "Main Page" title from just that page
var mpTitle = "Main Page";
var isMainPage = (document.title.substr(0, document.title.lastIndexOf("
- ")) == mpTitle);
var isDiff = (document.location.search &&
(document.location.search.indexOf("diff=") != -1 ||
document.location.search.indexOf("oldid=") != -1));
if (isMainPage && !isDiff)
{
document.write(''); }
/* END */

I would say yes - at least try that first. I had an install hang when I
setup a new server - and that was the problem.

I don't have a memory limit set, as was checked by
the installer's
message: "* PHP is configured with no memory_limit." Should I add in a
limit?

My
Apache error logs report nothing, and when I did some
debugging, I
Edit php.ini and locate
memory_limit = ??M (probably 8M)
set it to at least 20M and restart the apache server

Take a look at the CharInsert function... it's not exactly what you want

Hi all,
Today someone in the office discovered the
tag. I've now
been asked if it
can be added to the "button bar" that appears at the top of the edit
window -
the one with the buttons for bold, italics, links etc etc. I wouldn't
even know
where to start looking for that info or even what the appropriate bits
and
pieces are called so does anyone know if this can be done?
Any thoughts greatly aprpeciated.
Andrew

I'm trying to find out some information about getting more advanced
statistics on our local wiki installation. Is anyone using modified
code or a reporting package that can give additional information
about the number of visitors, page views, etc? I really don't know
php myself, so I'm hoping that someone else has come up with a
solution before I try to start learning how to code.
Thanks!
