Recent parser change regarding tildes in comments?

Has the parser just been changed with regards to tildes (~~~~) inside HTML comments? It appears they used to be ignored, and are now suddenly being replaced en masse the next time someone edits the page (and can't be easily reverted - it just changes the sig to the reverter's instead). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation/2006-06-02-ear… for an example.

So apparently y'all care more about the people that hurt me than y'all care about me? So y'all are going to IGNORE THE FACT that Magnolia677 WENT OFF ON me because i was making a bunch of edits to Florida county articles that she and 3 other admins didnt like me making and then I got REPORTED by ANOTHER EDITOR to ANI for STANDING UP for myself against her ATTACKING me? And y'all are gonna ASSUME i made the death threats for no reason for my own fucking ENJOYMENT? Y'all are ALLOWED to be an asshole to me and im not supposed to be an asshole to you back? Do y'all not have any respect for other people or their emotions? Is that like y'all's GOAL, to MAKE people suffer for the rest of THEIR FUCKING LIFE when they get blocked on a wiki and they GET MAD about it and take it out RIGHTFULLY on the person that blocked them? Are y'all nothing but some sadistic ass racist ass motherfuckers who want everything to go THEIR WAY and who want to control OTHER PEOPLE'S emotions or how they feel about their block? Are y'all JUSTIFYING Magnolia's and Drmies' actions towards me because theyre white and I'M black?

Maintenance release: MediaWiki 1.42.5

I would like to announce the release of MediaWiki 1.42.5! Thia release primarily serves as a maintenance release for this branch. It is to fix a vendor issue, as reported in T382783. The version of Parsoid included in the vendor folder did not match the version in the composer.json file in MediaWiki core. Other maintenance bug fixes have also been backported, and will be included in point releases for other MediaWiki branches (1.39 and 1.43) in the next security and maintenance release due at the end of March 2025. The tarballs have already been uploaded as of this email, and the git tags have been pushed. Reports of bugs with PHP 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 and 8.4 support are particularly welcome, and fixes will be back-ported when possible. mediawiki 1.43.0 | File and Directory Permissions | Arch Linux

Hi. I am using Arch Linux and did a fresh install of mediawiki-1.43.0.tar.gz in a fresh created directory (untar was done using user root). After copying my individual file to the fresh install, I set up my file permission according to these instructions at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Security - chapter "File permissions". I ended up with a non functional wiki because of wrong permissions. Then I started to walk to the error messages and did this: chgrp http mediawiki-1.43.0/includes/ chmod g+rx mediawiki-1.43.0/includes/ This raises the next error (composer needs access to vendor/autoload.php). I do not want walk through all the code and errors just to notice somewhen in production that I do not have access to x or y. Instead I want to be sure to start with the right and save setup. Internet search did not help a lot. Docs mentioned above have been missunderstood, are incomplete or wrong. My goal is to have a secure wiki with all permissions as low as needed for files and directories. What would you suggest? Does anyone have a link to a good and proven doc?
