Running SMW ask queries from extension's own PHP

Hey all, I'm currently working on an api module for neatly packaging together multiple SMW ask api calls to allow for a frontend to make 1 HHTP request and get all the necessary data. However, I'm unsure of how to call the SMW ask api from an extension's api module. I know the basic structure of an API module but not how to call local php from within local php. Is it simply a matter of doing "use SMW_XYZ" at the top of my api module? Thanks, Garrett

Integrate MediaWiki and ELK Stack together?

I saw WikiMedia's ELK Stack presentation and discussion video https://w ikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Using_Kibana4_to_read_logs_at_Wikimedia _Tech_Talk_2016-11-14.pdf One thing I was hoping to see was some MediaWiki integrations with Kibana so I can get the logs about servers and the comments about the servers into one dashboard for easy troubleshooting. How do the rest of you solve that problem?

Importing XML files into MW 1.31.x

Heiya, today I wanted to import an XML file to a wiki. The import failed because I did not add an interwiki prefix to the new and probably nifty interwiki prefix field which I now got in MW 1.31.x for Special:Import. The respective help page linked [0] does not mention this new interwiki prefix field. So what do I have to enter here?: The interwiki prefix of the wiki I exported the XML file from or the interwiki prefix of the wiki I import the XML file to, an arbitrary string or ... What do I have to do if the export was made from the same wiki I want to import the file to (This case is how I acutally stumbled into this.)? Provide input on the future direction of MediaWiki's extension management system

Hi everyone, As part of the MediaWiki Platform Team's goal to develop a roadmap for MediaWiki, we want to solicit input on the future direction of MediaWiki's extension management system. One of MediaWiki's greatest strengths is the diverse extension ecosystem. But navigating that ecosystem and managing those extensions can be difficult and cumbersome. Please provide input on what features you'd like to see at: <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/Extension_management_fe…>. You can suggest a specific feature, or endorse and comment on other people's proposals. I've put down a few proposal to help start the discussion, but I'm sure that everyone has plenty more :-). The goal will be to collate the input provided there, and use it to plan future development work on improving extension management. Sync'ing all articles in wiki1:Foo namespace with wiki2:Foo (on the same server)

Hi, I have an enterprise server hosting multiple closed wikis. All data collected from specific page forms on wiki1 into articles in a specific namespace (say NSx) are required to be copied/cloned/updated to another wiki (say, wiki2) into the same namespace. All other pages in all other namespaces are to remain independent. --- The copy/clone/update is to be one-way.. meaning that edits on pages in the NSx namespace of wiki2 will have no impact on wiki1 and will be overwritten when new updates occur on an article in the Foo namespace of wiki1. So far I've been exploring what is possible using Hooks and with the "Push" extension. I'm willing to invent/write my own solution for this, but first I was hoping to see if A) anyone here knows of an existing solution to this need, and B) what people think the best approach might be if it is to be taken up from scratch. I do have the luxury of saying that both wikis are hosted on the same server and I have root access to that server. I'm just not sure what the best approach is. Any insights and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm playing with Push, but I'm also thinking that it might be ideal to make a localhost hook extension which uses the "ArticleSaveComplete" Hook in wiki1 to write the updated article content to wiki2 using the API and an bot account. Proposal to make this mailing list publically indexable by search engines

Currently https://lists.wikimedia.org/robots.txt bans indexing the public archives of this list (at https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/mediawiki-l/ ) Appearently this happened back in 2005 due to some people complaining about their posts on some lists (not neccesarily this one) being at the top of google. I think its kind of rediculous the tech support list for mediawiki not indexable by google*. The first step for anyone trying to solve their problem should be to google it but yet we don't let google show results from this list. Its my understanding that if a list want to be indexed by google, that the config would be changed for lists that request it. Thus, I would like to formerly propose that mediawiki-l be allowed to be indexed by google et al. Thoughts? Objections? -- Brian
