Maps 5.0 released!

Hey all, I am happy to announce the immediate availability of version 5.0 of Maps, the extension for to work with and visualize geographical information in MediaWiki. help with updating a wiki

Hi there, I have a wiki (www.zauber-pedia.de <http://www.zauber-pedia.de/>) which was built 2014. The Version is too old now to rund with my server. If you go to my wiki you will see NO contents, only the first line. Can you help me to update this old version to a newer version. I need this help badly as you might can imagine. Please help. I am too stupid to do it, because I don’t know anything about computer being an Apple-Mac-User. please get in touch with me soon. Thank you in advance Wittus Witt

recommended extension for talk page replacement

Folks, here's a good question for a Friday. Is there any consensus on what the current best talk page replacement extension is? I went to install "LiquidThreads", but then I saw that it is "unmaintained" and not recommended for new wikis. 1. https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Category:Discussion_and_forum_extensions 2. https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:LiquidThreads 3. https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/LiquidThreads_3.0 I have Parsoid and VisualEditor running on my wiki, along with SemanticMediawiki and Echo installed too.. which leads me to think that either "CommentStreams" or "SemanticComments" would be useful for this.. but neither of them seems to automatically place itself in the talk pages that I can see. So... what talk page upgrade strategy does the Mediawiki community recommend for new wikis? -Rich

Header Tabs Extension

Hello, I hope this was not sent twice. I didn't realize I needed to subscribe before I sent my first message. I have been working with and using the Header Tabs extension: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Header_Tabs on my wiki, but I have some questions about its functionality, how it works and some issues im having. I was told to send an email to this address by a Sergey Chernyshev who I believe at one point worked on this extension. I would like to find out if there are any contributors to the extension that might be able to answer my questions. Sergey also sent me this link which lists the contributors. https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions- HeaderTabs/graphs/contributors but I am not sure who I should try to contact. Blocking multiple users quickly?

What's the simplest way to block many users quickly? It looks like Special:Block accepts only a single user at a time, which would be very tedious for ~300 users. I could spend an hour writing & debugging a script that uses the MediaWiki API, but I'm wondering if there's an easier solution. Thanks, DanB

I've been trying to find a solution to this problem but my googling is failing me. I am trying to set up 2 local mediawiki blogs on this machine using Debian 9 and Apache/2.4.25. They will not be web facing, just pure localhost-based. - wiki-drugfacts @ /var/www/html/wiki-drugfacts - wiki-tgmeds @ /var/www/html/wiki-TGmeds I have configured wiki-drugfacts and it displays as I want at http://localhost/wiki-drugfacts/index.php/Main_Page However, http://localhost/wiki-tgmeds/index.php/Main_Page displays "You don't have permission to access /wiki-tgmeds/index.php/Main_Page on this server." How can I therefore get wiki-tgmeds to display properly please? Cool site! Should be fairly straightforward; something that anyone with some MediaWiki maintenance experience can handle. Your new host must of course meet the requirements: php, mySQL, etc. Do you have access to the database? You’ll need a dump of the Placeography tables. Have you customized skins? If not, it will go easier. Have any custom extensions? Likewise, but it’s just a matter of moving them and making sure they are wired into LocalSettings.php properly. The toughest part may be moving the images. Backup and restore the entire ~/images file hierarchy. Advice on PluugableAuth, PluggableSSO, and Active Directory

Hello, I am setting up a new MW 1.29 application on a secure RHEL7+Apache2+PHP5.6+MariaDB5.5 host running in an Active Directory enterprise environment. All client browsers that will access the wiki have user session attributes in the header authenticated by the domain. When users visit the MW site, I would like MW to automatically log-in the users (and create new users as needed) from the authentication information in the browser session header. I am told by my enterprise security admins that the session header data is compatible with Siteminder (i.e. SM_SDOMAIN, etc..) [Q1] Will I need anything beyond PluggableAuth and PluggableSSO? [Q2] Will I need to configure either of these for my domain or should it just work? So far I have successfully installed PluggableAuth and PluggableSSO and added the following to LocalSettings.php: $wgPluggableAuth_EnableAutoLogin = true; $wgPluggableAuth_EnableLocalLogin = true; $wgPluggableAuth_EnableLocalProperties = false; $wgPluggableAuth_Class = "PluggableSSO"; wfLoadExtension( 'PluggableAuth' ); wfLoadExtension( 'PluggableSSO' ); but it does not work as effortless as hoped. So I have set $wgShowDebug = true; in localsettings.php and can see all of the session data and trace info, but I don't know how to interpret it as well as i'd like. [Q3] My local login no longer works either. Is this to be expected? Any advice from the authentication gurus is greatly appreciated :-) Thanks in advance, -Rich
