Dear MediaWiki users and developers,
SWMCon Spring 2015 [1] will be held in St. Louis, MO USA from Wednesday, May 6th to Friday, May 8th. We’re hosting SMWCon in the historical garment district of downtown St. Louis City which is now a flourishing dining, residential, and shopping district. It’s also home to our venue for the conference, T-Rex [2]. T-Rex is home to numerous startups and incubators, and a really great shared space in the heart of St. Louis.
We are inviting you to submit your contributions to help collect and put together the conference program. Additionally, please add yourself to the informal list of attendees if you’d like to attend.
=== About SMWCon ===
This twice-yearly conference brings together researchers, users, developers and enthusiasts of Semantic MediaWiki and related projects, such as Wikidata. Semantic MediaWiki is a family of extensions to the open-source wiki software MediaWiki (best known for powering Wikipedia) that allow a wiki to store structured data in addition to textual content, thereby, turning a wiki into a flexible, collaborative knowledge repository.
=== Call for Contributions ===
Attendees, talks and tutorials are needed.
SMWCon is a community-driven event. Visit the SMWCon wiki page to learn more, add your name to the list of attendees, and register your talk.
http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/SMWCon_Spring_2015
Your talk does not have to be complete. A short description and length is recommended and will make planning easier.
Please note that all tutorials and presentations will be video and audio recorded and made available for others after the conference.

I have a wiki that uses the HighslideGallery extension. I have just
updated my wiki to 1.24.0 and any page that includes HighslideGallery
tags will not load. The error log reports the following:
PHP Catchable fatal error Argument 1 passed to
Linker::makeImageLink() must be an instance of
Parser, null given, called in /<WebRootPath>/includes
/Linker.php on line 691 and defined in /<WebRootPath>
/includes/Linker.php on line 546
Disabling the extension allows the pages to load without error, but of
course I then lose the use of the extension, which I like and would like
to keep. No pages without calls to this extension have problems. The
release notes for 1.24.0 mention: "...makeImageLink() now requires a
Parser as its first parameter" which seems relevant.
Does anyone using this extension (or even not using it, I'm not picky)
have a solution to this?

I have the most recent 1.23 installed & have been using it for a few
months; I tried to download and import some templats & pages from
wikipedia and the 1.23 is throwing scrip errors for lua and it will NOT
load a .xml file downloaded via Wikipedia's export function. It works
fine with old exports that I have saved. So whats the deal, do I need to
upgrade my system to get rid of these issues.
Thanks

I have pages with subobjects
In the past the only way I could find to combine subobjects and page properties in one result set was to use sparql a query.
Is this possible with ask?

Hi,
I'm not sure what you mean by "Modification date in a sparql query"
but the following #ask should give you the requested information.
{{#ask: [[Modification date::+]]
|?Modification date
}}
If you want to print out the #ask SPARQL query, just use:
{{#ask: [[Modification date::+]]
|?Modification date
|format=debug
}}
Cheers

Due to migrating most of RT to Phabricator, phabricator.wikimedia.org
will be down and NOT AVAILABLE for eight hours starting on Thursday 18
December 00:00 UTC (that is Wed 17 Dec 16:00PST for people in San
Francisco).
In those eight hours, urgent issues which cannot wait should be brought
up either on IRC or https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Project:Support_desk
Thank you for your understanding and sorry for the inconvenience.

So I'm looking at the CPU graphs for the Wikimedia clusters before and
after the switch to HHVM, and I'm going "oh my goodness, I'd like that
thanks".
rationalwiki.org is on 1.19 and I need to get off my backside and
upgrade it to 1.23 (only been putting it off approximately since 1.23
came out). (We're sticking to LTS releases for sanity and hit-by-a-bus
factor.) I'd quite like to reduce load on the box by that much.
0. Has anyone else tried this?
1. How hard is it to set up MediaWiki to run in HHVM? (is there a
handy guide on mediawiki.org?)
2. What should I expect if I try to run 1.23 on HHVM?
3. We have fiddly custom extensions, so what I'll probably do is
convert to 1.23 on Zend mod_php, make sure everything's behaving,
*then* convert to HHVM. Just how good is HHVM's PHP coverage? What
should I expect? I understand it's really very good ...
4. What's memory consumption like?

Hi there
I am looking for an extension to add a drawing toolbar to mediwiki edit pages, NOT coding just toolbar.I have added the SVG drawing but can not using it as i am receiving this message:
"The page you requested is hosted by the Toolserver user brion, whose account has expired. Toolserver user accounts are automatically expired if the user is inactive for over six months. To prevent stale pages remaining accessible, we automatically block requests to expired content."
I am not concern of using only SVG drawing any drawing toolbar can be helpful. so replies is highly appreciated.
