It sounds like you might be using CSS in your SVG. If not please disregard the rest of my post. While CSS is in general a great idea, and has certainly made my life a lot easier, it turns out ImageMagick doesn't support CSS in SVG. As far as I can tell they haven't said anything about supporting it any time soon, either. My solution is to use Inkscape instead of ImageMagick. In a shell I convert SVGs with: $ inkscape -f input.svg -e output.png (from http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22607) >From the link Sigbert provided, it looks like you should be able to easily tell MW to use Inkscape, which in my experience converts SVGs quite well. I haven't used rsvg or Batik, but WikiMedia seems to think highly of them. If this doesn't work for you or is too difficult to implement, a workaround is to simply not use CSS in your SVG. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth as I am so fond of using CSS, but is sometimes necessary. I have a Wiki page that holds a table of data. I have the data in an Excel file and also as a flat ASCI file. I am looking for a way to automate the updating of the page so when I make a change to the file on my one system I can run the script and it will make the changes on my Wiki. Problem with Encoding only in external links

Hi, i have the following Problem after Upgrading my Wiki to 1.21: when I add a Link to an external destination containing german “umlaute” then the link doesn’t work if I save the page. In preview-mode everything works correct, only after saving the page the link is broken. The Link showing in the text looks ok, it shows me: /Preisübersicht but the link behind the text is broken: /PreisÃ¼bersicht/ If I make a internal link to a page with “umlaute”, it works too. Need help rendering SVG files on my localhost wiki

SVG files render poorly on my localhost wiki, with the colors often blacked out. I have ImageMagick installed to render graphic files, and everything but SVG files renders well. I'm running MediaWiki 1.22.1 on Windows 7 SP1 64bit with PHP 5.4.19 (apache2handler) MySQL 5.5.32 My LocalSettings: ## To enable image uploads, make sure the 'images' directory ## is writable, then set this to true: $wgEnableUploads = true; $wgUseImageMagick = true; $wgImageMagickConvertCommand = "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\ImageMagick-6.8.7-Q16\\convert.exe"; $wgFileExtensions = array('png','gif','jpg','jpeg','doc','xls','mpp','pdf','ppt','tiff','bmp','docx', 'xlsx', 'pptx','ps','odt','ods','odp','odg','svg'); Any help with resolving the issue would be appreciated.

Hi, We are thinking about using Extension:Translate. How do you CYA for inaccurate translations, esp when it comes to translating pages that outline wiki policies and rules? I was thinking of requiring a disclaimer for all translated pages that says (translated, of course) something like: Note: this page has been translated from the English version of this page. The English version should be considered the authoritative version in any case of conflict between this translation and the original English version. File upload issue after upgrading to 1.22

Hi everyone, I recently upgraded to 1.22 and after upgrading I'm getting the following error when I try to upload photos: Bad Request unknown function SpecialUpload::ajaxGetExistsWarning And if I ignore the warning and try to upload I get the following error: Could not create directory "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/a/a3". I've never seen this error before and my local php is set up to allow file uploads. Can't seem to find this problem referenced anywhere.

Purging spam users from site

I have finally gotten all the spammers that opened accounts on my site "BLOCKED" & I have removed all their user pages & any contributions that I can find. However I want to also purge them from my user listing & clear them from the user tables in the database. I could actually just delete them from the table, but I am not certain if that could/would damage my database & site. There are about 14,000 or so of them & I just want the site cleared of the garbage as I believe it will help speed it up a bit, & well, I'm a tiny bit of a perfectionist. Thanks john

Vector based subskin

I've got two small html files. One is a block of links that I'd like right at the top of the page, and the second is a block of links I'd like to insert above the footer. Issue with template calls

On my site if for example I have a script that calls for {{Portal:Mycrap}} the resulting search for the items is sent to the server as {{Template:Portal:Mycrap}} rather than just selecting the doccument Portal:Mycrap [[Portal:Mycrap]] does as it should & calls the correct document. This is usually caused by some template that I have copied from Wikipedia. I have checked the original template scripts that I have downloaded against those installed on my site & they are exactly the same. I have examine the calls issued within, Wikipedia and they seem to be exactly the same, except Wikipedia does not add the Template: portion to the document search. Any idea how to duplicate the Wikipedia performance on my site. Thanks john

Newbie question about pywikibot

Hello, I wonder if there are any pywikibot wizards on the list who can help me getting on the right track; I have been fetching data from WikiData like this: `action=wbgetentities&languages=XXX&props=labels|claims&ids=Q100|Q101|Q102` Now I want to try doing the same thing with pywikibot, to make logging in etc easier, but I can't find out how to fetch data for more than one page at a time. So far I've found `pagegenerators.PagesFromTitlesGenerator` to generate a collection of page titles, but I don't know what to do with it (other than iterate through it to fetch one page at a time...) CentralAuth: Global accounts not globally usable

Hi, I'm desperately trying to install CentralAuth for months now and I almost did it. I'm running 12 language wikis and one pool wiki. I renamed all databases from something cryptic like "usr_web123_4" to "languagecodewiki" via phpMyAdmin. I created database centralauth and ran centralauth.sql. I ran php extensions/CentralAuth/maintenance/migratePass0.php and php extensions/CentralAuth/maintenance/migratePass0.php (from /path/to/w/). I also ran migrateStewards.php and on the wikis without stewards it gave me the following output (but I guess that's okay): "Populating global groups table with stewards... Fetched 1 from local database... Checking for attached ones Fetched 1 SULed stewards... Adding them in group Added Till Kraemer" Special:GlobalUsers now lists all users of all wikis. I have a user named "Till Kraemer" manually registered on all 13 wikis. If I go to Special:MergeAccount, I can see that all 13 accounts are merged into one global account and everything is fine. 13 local wikis are shown on Special:CentralAuth/Till_Kraemer. I have a user named "Bot" manually registered on only 4 wikis. I can only use this account on those 4 wikis. Only 4 local wikis are shown on Special:MergeAccount and Special:CentralAuth/Bot. If I try to log in with this account on one of the other 9 wikis, I get an error that the user "Bot" doesn't exist. However, if I try to manually register the user "Bot" on one of the 9 other wikis, it gives me the error, that there is already a global user named "Bot". I can manually create local user "Bot" on the other wikis via php CentralAuth/maintenance/createLocalAccount.php, but there should be a way to do this automatically. I registered a new account on one of the wikis and that account also can be only used on one wiki. Although I've set $wgCentralAuthAutoNew = true; it seems to create just a local account but that isn't entirely true because that user can be found in table localuser and globaluser of database centralauth. Any suggestions would be great, since I really don't know what else I could try :/ Have a nice weekend! fixing custom skins based on Vector?

Hi all, I've inherited a custom skin based on Vector from MW 1.16. Using it with 1.22 causes the left sideBar navigation to disappear, as well as tab text to show up as <vector-namespace-special>. As I'm no skinning expert, I'm wondering where to begin to fix these problems. I'm actively attempting to fix the skin now, but thought I'd ask, in case anyone has done this before and may be able to provide clues. Thanks Bill
