Change Link in Footer

Hi, I am a bit stuck here. I need to change the footer of my wiki. I want to insert a link to an external disclaimer. I do know about the array in the skins directory which is $footerlinks. I think the 'disclaimer' there links to my language File where a link is built from 'disclaimers' and 'disclaimerspage'. Every time I change a value there to http://example.com/disclaimer.php the link isn't built properly. So what do I exactly have to change to get a proper link in my footer? Thanks, Lars

Logs are you friends :-) If the file is there then there could be a permissions problem somewhere in the directory path. Even though you may have permission to find the file, the web server, which is calling it, may not. Check the permissions of each directory in the file's path and the filename to see that the web user (e.g., apache) can get to that file and read it. It may help to watch the log file as you are using the wiki. The error below looks like it happened when you opened the Softwareversie page and it was trying to check the version of the FCKeditor. There are probably other errors, for example when you try to edit a page since that is not working. mediawiki maintenance scripts DB connection error mysql

I am using a custom php and mysql installation and custom configurations on top of that for each instance set ... When running a maintenance script, such as runJobs.php, I get an error: DB connection error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/opt/mysql/var/lib' (111) (localhost) The DB for this wiki is actually running out of /tmp/mysql.sock and this is set in LocalSettings.php, but all the maintenance scripts still want to use the default socket path of my custom php installation and custom mysqld installation. I even tried to do a runJobs.php --conf /www/mywiki/LocalSettings.php and still gave the same error ? Is there anyway to force the socket location for this, such as a MYSQL_SOCK system variable or something like that (I am using linux) ? Thanks.

Hi, I am trying to hide my p-cactions menu bar at http://health.jbdirectory.com I used <?php if ($this->loggedin) { ?> and <?php } > to hide the relevant codes such that only those who log in can access the bar. However, when I do that, the bar disappears for good, even though I am logged in. In other words, it is not acting the way I intended. What could be the reason for this? By the way, I could do the same thing for other codes, so why not this one then? (P/S: I have removed the loggedin codes so that you can see the p-caction bar.) -- PM Poon

Creating Alias name for a page -- Is there a better way?

We have an internal Mediawiki 1.15 running on our corporate LAN. We have started to create a page for each of our products and we have a technical name and a non-technical name for each of the products. So for example, let's say a product's engineering name would be "IPZY-112" and its corresponding non-technical name would be "Tiger". Is there a way we to create an alias title (Tiger) for the page with title "IPZY-112"? We thought about IPZY-112 (Tiger) but it wouldn't work since half of the company refers as Tiger and other half as IPZY-112. Is there any better way? Thanks!

You still need to find the log files and look at them, but since placing the require_once statement for FCKeditor did not break the wiki (e.g., a blank page when you go to the wiki), I would lean towards another extension interfering with the FCKeditor. Try disabling (comment out) all other extensions in LocalSettings.php except the FCKeditor.
