I recently migrated my wiki from Windows to Linux. Apache, PHP, MySQL,
and MediaWiki were the same versions on both computers. I am running
MediaWiki 1.15.1, Apache 2.2.11, PHP 5.2.10, and MySQL 5.0.70.
I want to upload a new version of an image, so I navigate to it's page
and click "Upload a new version of this file". This takes me to the
upload page, where the "Destination filename" is already populated. I
enter the path to the file to upload and a brief description and click
"Upload file". The file is submitted to the server, but then I am sent
to Special:Upload instead of the file's page.
I have tried following the "How to debug" article at MediaWiki's
website, but I don't see any error being output anywhere. I have enabled
logging and watched it as I upload a file, but it seems mysteriously
void of any output looking like an upload. The only hint that an upload
happened is due to the multipart request sent to the server.
The images directory is owned by both the apache user and the apache
group and is 755 for directories and 644 for files. I can save revisions
to articles without problem. Images show up just fine on the wiki.
Does anyone know what is wrong?
Thanks,
Chris Lieb

There are some pages in wiki, which have been protected a few years ago.
Even the sysops are not able to edit them.
I have found on google search that only users from "autoconfirmed" group can
edit them. that too who are registered for more than a configured time.
I have added myself to autoconfirmed group. But could someone please let me
know what the configured time is?
And in which file this period can be changed?
Thanks in advance,
Sirisha

Hi, I just shifted my left panel to the right and am facing a problem with
the floating footer. It floats immediately after what is now the right
panel. I tried to create a block for the text area and the panel so that it
works as one monolithic piece such that whatever is the height of either,
the footer will always be below these 2 sections. However, it did not work.
I then tried to add clear:all to the footer CSS but it didn't work either. I
also tried to add <br clear=all> for footer in my php file for the new skin
but nothing seems to work. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This may be more of an Apache question but was wondering if any other
MediaWiki users have seen this...
There was someone who we assume has been trying to break into our web system
request URLS such as
/index.php?title=%53%70%65%63%69%61%6C%3A%52%65%63%65%6E%74%63%68%61%6E%67%65%73&d

which in turn really is...
/index.php?title=Special%3ARecentchanges&days=14&limit=100&hidepatrolled=1%27%2F*N*%2For%2F*N*%2F1%3D1%2F*N*%2Fand%2F*N*%2F1%3D1%2F*N*%2Fand%2F*N*%2F2%3D2%2F*N*%2Fand%2F*N*%2F%27a%
27%3D%27a
Some requests look like possible SQL injections..
/index.php?title=Special%3ARecentchanges%2F*N*%2For%2F*N*%2F(select%2F*N*%2Fcount(*)%2F*N*%2Ffrom%2F*N*%2FINFORMATION_SCHEMA.tables%2F*N*%2Fwhere%2F*N*%2Fadmin_loginname%3Dadmin_loginname)%3D-1%2F*N*%2Fand%2F*N*%2F0%3D0&hidepatrolled=1&days=14&limit=100&hideanons=1
We haven't seen this happening in a while now but we cannot be 100% positive
that the visitor was not successful in getting in..
Thanks!

Semantic MediaWiki Version 1.4.1
UBUNTU 2.6.27-9-server
After I had rebooted the wiki server from putty, I'm unable to connect to
the server from the browser. I could however, log in to the server from
putty.
Please help,
Thanks,

I'm using a site which covers multiple related games and there are topics
that have the same name for each game. These topics are then gathered into
hierarchies of MediaWiki categories. Is there any way to use some kind of
namespace mechanism to allow the same category name to be used for multiple
games? For example, given the game prefix names WoW and WCIII, could I have
WoW:Categories and WCIII:Categories?

You should use a different approach. To map
"10.1.1.50" to "www.your_intranet.gis"
you should NOT use any PHP or Apache setting.
This is solved with your DNS or for a local test your "hosts".
If your DNS is configured correctly enter
"ping www.your_intranet.gis"
in a DOS-Box (or shell) and you should get an answer from "10.1.1.50".
To use "www.example.com" (you really do?) is not advised because it really exists.

Claus
