Hi,
My extension External Data uses Http::get() to retrieve the contents of a
URL. Unfortunately, it turns out that this function fails on some URLs,
returning an HTTP return code of "0". Here's an example of a URL for which
it doesn't work:
http://mouse.brain-map.org/GeneExpression/Hippocampal+region/1.xml
Http::get() uses PHP's cURL library when possible (and on my server, it's
possible), and I assume that's what's causing the problem: when I replace
the call to Http::get() with a call to file_get_contents(), it works fine.
Does anyone know what the exact problem is? (It might be related to the fact
that the page is in XML format, although other XML pages work.) Should I
just use file_get_contents() instead?
Thanks,
Yaron
Hello,
I have been trying to update my wiki to 1.13.5, but I have been
getting the following error after updating the files and updating the
database (via update.php).
Fatal error: Call to a member function matchStartToEnd() on a
non-object in /webroot/includes/parser/Parser.php on line 2788
I appreciate any and all help.
I have recently upgraded a server from openSuse to CentOS after dumping
the mysql db and backing up all files for MediaWiki.
Previously, the site was located in /src/htdocs (I think)
but is now located in /var/www/html/Content/htdocs
There did not appear to be a setting for $IP anywhere in
localsettings.php, so at the very top I added
$IP="/var/www/html/Content/htdocs";
But when I go to the site (http://serverip/Content/htdocs/ and db
settings are all correct of course), it seems to redirect to an
index.php5 file and the error is
"The requested URL /Content/htdocs/index.php5/Brinkman_Lab_Wiki was not
found on this server"
I am not sure of where all the path settings might be set, or where/why
that string is being appended (Brinkman_Lab_Wiki) so can someone offer
any suggestions?

Does really no one have a hint here?
Is there a better place to ask?

Hi, I was just wondering whether [[communism|communist]] is more efficient
or [[Communism|communist]]. I used to use the latter form but I see that in
Malay Wikipedia, one bureaucrat is changing it to a small letter as in the
former.
I hope to get the more efficient form so as to reduce processing overheads.

Hi,
Is there any easy way to know the average number of contributors per page in
a given namespace (for example main namespace) ?
Thank you for your help.

Hello !
Is there an extension available that could randomly show a few lines
of an article on the main page ? The article that is shown would
change with every visit. Of course having the ability to highlight
only "new" articles or articles within a specific category would be a
bonus.

We are using MediaWiki 1.13.5 out of the box on Windows 2003 with
PHP 5.2.3 and MySQL 4.1.14-nt.
We are getting this fatal error. Let me know if you have any
suggestions or
debugging tips for it.

Hi guys,
I moved my wiki from the root directory of socialopedia.org to a
subdirectory xxx.alwaydata.net/wiki to which is linked the transferred
domain socialopedia.org.
I imported the .htaccess file and, as I expected, it introduced problems.
Basically, I can only see the page content and no more the sidebar, the
footer, etc...
You may check at www.socialopedia.org
I tried to change a bit my .htaccess file, but I couldn't fix it... BTW, I
was before with 1.13 and went to 1.14
Here is the content:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !index.php
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -l
RewriteRule ^(.+) $1 [L]
# redirect to main page
RewriteRule ^/*$ /index.php?title=Accueil [L,QSA]
# anything else is to be treated as a title
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !index.php
RewriteRule ^(.+)$ /index.php?title=$1 [L,QSA]
Inserting /wiki/ before index.php in the rules does not help, since it wants
to go to www.socialopedia.org/wiki, whereas socialopedia.org redirects to
the wiki subfolder...
Any help would be of great help !
