And the are right to say that.
"MediaWiki is not designed to be a CMS, or to protect sensitive data.
To the contrary, it was designed to be as open as possible. Thus it
does not inherently support full featured, air-tight protection of
private content. But with the massive increase of MediaWiki use in
corporate intranets and the many CMS-like features emerging, demand
for tighter security is emerging."
(Quote from "Security issues with authorization extensions")

What happens if security is not tight enough? Is security important in
your intranet?

Hi there,
I am using the Collection Extension for my MediaWiki 1.15.1 to download PDFs or create books in PDF.
I really want to add my copyright info to the PDFs, but I can't find any way to do it.
Do I need to do something with LocalSettings.php, or to create some kind of template?
Thanks in advance.
Ross

I'm trying to convince my company to use mediawiki for internal use.
But they say that mediawiki user right management is not enough powerful for us.
We need several levels and several groups of users rights to protect
from read or read/write important documents.
All has to be integrated with LDAP.
Any suggestions?
Any big company that uses in its intranet the mediawiki for this goal?
Also we need a very powerful rich editor that allow to write block diagrams ...
Thanks.

Greetings,
I like the EzMwLucene search engine for my MediaWiki 1.15.1.
But the search results are listed in wrong order.
If a serach result has full text match, it should be listed at the top, but it's put on the third position. The ones listed above it have higher value of relevance, but the words are just partially matched.
How could I adjust the relevance, or change the way of list order?
Any idea is appreciated.
Ross

Checked the requirements using phpinfo
http://www.opensurf.it/_phpinfo.php
------------------
PHP Version 5.2.6 instead of recommended 5.1
PCRE: ok
SPL: ok
Loaded all mediawiki 1.15.1 in /w/ dir using gftp
Set, by gftp, config dir to chmod 777
I have this result http://www.opensurf.it/w
The /tmp dir is not in a correct place, because my user on the server
has not write permisison on the server.
I think $IP is the absolute path on the server, but someone told me is
written automatically.
I need an help because I really like to install on my server the
mediawiki, but I'm blocked.
Thx
Hello,
I've a problem on my wiki.
When I try to create or modify a page, it get an error 500.
The strange is that it happens only in the page of namespaces User, Project,
100, 102, 104 (but not in ns0, 101, 103, 105, 150, 151).
I tried to follow the page [1]: I put
error_reporting( E_ALL );
ini_set( 'display_errors', 1 );
at the top of my LocalSettings.php, and it shows a problem with
$wgImportSources.
So I deleted it from LocalSettings, but it got the error 500 again, without
further information about the error.
Then I tried to increase memory limit through LocalSettings.php to 16, 32
and 64M, putting
ini_set( 'memory_limit', '32M' );
but nothing changed.
What could I do?
Thank you in advance.
Regards.

Hello altogether,
I tried to change the logo of a mediawiki installation on an Ubuntu Server.
In the file LocalSettings.php I added the line
$wgLogo = "images/mylogo.png"
Then I copied the file with the above name into the directory images.
The logo is displayed, when I click on "edit" to modify a page. But it is
not displayed any more, when I switch back to regular view.
Could I please get a hint, what goes wrong here? Any idea? What information
do you need?
Thank you in advance and best regards,
Frank
Is there any mediawiki extension that allows mediawiki sites to use commons
images? thanks

Greetings,
I am using MediaWiki 1.15.1 for my wiki site.
I'd like to know if JavaScript is enabled by default. If not, how to enable it?
The reason I am asking this is ...
If I create my monobook.js at wikipedia and add "{{subst:navpop}}", it automatically converts after Save. But for my wiki site, it doesn't. And none of my js for my wiki seems working.
BTW, my wiki site is a virtual web server from my ISP. Is this a problem?
Any idea is greatly appreciated,
Ross
