Hi all,
Hi all,
I'm working with the mediawiki API and I would like to 'truncate' the mysql tables in order to
reset my local installation while keeping the users.
What would be the SQL queries ?
I would say: tuncate all the tables but ${PREFIX}_user and update ${PREFIX}_user set user_editcount=0 ?
Any other(safer) suggestion ?
Thank you in advance
Pierre
I am using Mediawiki on Debian Lenny.
By default, creating a new page starts with blank i.e. no wikitext. Users needs to put headings, text etc.
I need to include following standard headers by default every time a new page is created. Here is the wikitext:
*************************
==Basic Description==
==Explain==
==See also==
==References==
==External links==
*************************
What is the best way to do this? I have already created a template for the above page [[Template:MyTemplate]] and it seems that I can use it on a new black page with the following syntax {{Template:MyTemplate}}. However I would like to go one step further in the sense that whenever a user creates a new page, it will automatically populate from the template.

Except it doesn't do escaped field delimiters.
If you don't have control over your application's CSV output, you
probably cannot use SimpleTable. Apple Numbers comes to mind... just
spent a couple hours convincing myself that SimpleTables is not useful
with the fixed-format CSV output from Apple Numbers. For example, most
columns with dollar-formatted amounts of 1,000 or more will cause an
unwanted column split.
Anyone know of a good open-source CSV parsing package written in PHP?
Perhaps that could be glommed onto SimpleTable to make a standards-
conforming CSV --> wikitable extension.

Is there anyway to import a spreadsheet into my Wiki. I have quite a bit of
information I need to place in my WiKi and it is on an excel spreadsheet.
Now to have to make up tables for all this will take me forever so is there
an easer way of getting this into my WikI beside just adding the spread
sheet as a download
Another slightly easier option is to use the SimpleTable extension

export.

We actually did just what you're describing, but we used the
emailAuthenticated field to hold the last login--mainly because we did
our own authentication, so the emailAuthenticated field wasn't really
useful to us anymore, but also because as long as that time is before
the current time (which it always is if you set it to the login time)
there's no difference in functionality.

You could place the extension (.XLS) into the array of file types that
are allowed to be uploaded, and then simply upload the files. They
will be fairly useless to others until they download them and bring
them into Excel.
Another way that's more interactive is to export them as CSV files,
import them into their own tables in MySQL, then use the sql2wiki
extension to display them. This is much more versatile, but can only
be done on a trusted site, as you generally don't want just anyone
sending arbitrary SQL to your database. You can also update and change
the tables at will, and have the changes instantly show up on the wiki.
