Importing an Excel Spread sheet

Is there anyway to import a spreadsheet into my Wiki. I have quite a bit of information I need to place in my WiKi and it is on an excel spreadsheet. Now to have to make up tables for all this will take me forever so is there an easer way of getting this into my WikI beside just adding the spread sheet as a download

They will be fairly useless to others until they download them and bring them into Excel. Another way that's more interactive is to export them as CSV files, import them into their own tables in MySQL, then use the sql2wiki extension to display them. This is much more versatile, but can only be done on a trusted site, as you generally don't want just anyone sending arbitrary SQL to your database. You can also update and change the tables at will, and have the changes instantly show up on the wiki. Last login time

Hello, I would like to query the wiki database to get a list of users with their last login time. The user table doesn't have a field for last login. Maybe the information is somewhere in the logging table ? Upload files not working since upgrade

Dear All, Since upgrading MediaWiki from 1.12 to 1.15 I have lost the ability to upload files, I get the below internal error. Could not rename file "C:\PHP\uploadtemp\php140.tmp" to "public/8/8b/Tn_IMG_6423ASL_CARDIFF.jpg". Can anyone suggest anything to rectify this? Help with help pages

Hi all, I followed the instructions at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Copying to install the public domain help pages at my wiki. I'm not sure what happened but I think the export process has somehow been tampered with. Please see the results here: http://lauraogrady.ca/ckbwiki/index.php/Help:Contents If you scroll through this page you will see that is repeats the same content (Template then Usage). Has anyone recently installed the help files? If so, did you get it to work? Also I followed the instructions at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:ListFiles to grab all the images associate with the help pages. There are literally hundreds of them and it took a considerable amount of time to grab them one file at a time. I haven't uploaded them yet due to the problem with the help pages. My question is could they not be provided in a zip/compressed format for download? Thanks. Laura

Problem restoring MW 1.15.1 DB from PostgreSQL 8.3 to PostgreSQL 8.4

Hi all, I understand that PostgreSQL isn't as well supported by mediawiki as MySQL is, but it's what I am familiar with, so I use it. :) Specifically, I already use it on my server (Debian Lenny), and I want to install it on my laptop for devel and testing (Ubuntu 9.10), so I actually really need to stick with PostgreSQL at this point. JS2 and jquery

We need some help with the new JS2 method. Th documentation is understandably a bit patchy (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk:JS2_Overview - anything better or more?). Scenario: we use jquery for javascript that resides in the mediawiki namespace and is called through mediawiki:common.js In the last months, the usability initiative has provided the necessary jquery core library. With the update to the current mediawiki revision (as used by wikipedia) this no longer works. I understand that JS2 provides a superior mechanism. And I understand that ulitmately, putting language strings into php might be beneficial. For the moment, however: Is there a simple cooking recipe to simply make use of JS2 for having jquery loaded? We could write an extension, to hardcode that, but we would like to move forward and start using JS2. thanks in advance! How do you allow zip files uploads

I need to configure my wiki to allow uploading of zip files. Now I have added it to my LocalSettings.php file. However I see that it is still blacklisted and I need to change this setting in another file. I have done quite a bit of reading up on this but I am still in the dark as to what file I need to edit and what I need to edit into it?

Hello All, First off, sorry for using "internalization" rather than "internationalization". I noticed the errors just after hitting send. I have solved my own problem with a bit more trial and error. For those that are finding this in the future here's the answer I came up with: You use $wgExtensionMessagesFiles to add the extension message file that you have set up. It doesn't appear to matter where this is, so long as the file in which it appears is require()'d iin some way. An example of this is as follows: $wgExtensionMessagesFiles['referenceName'] = '/path/to/messages_file.i18n.php'; Note: It is common to have 'referenceName' match 'messages_file' and for this to also be the name of the extension. You then need to use wfLoadExtensionMessages inside any function that you are using in which you want some translation. This is what I was missing: you apparently can't just use it in the constructor as you can with a SpecialPage subclass. An example would be: wfLoadExtensionMessages('referenceName'); Note: referenceName is the same as in $wgExtensionMessagesFiles Now you can use the multitude of wfMsg functions and the other i18n functions to internationalize your content. Again, it appears that after the calling function is finished working, the messages are unloaded and you need to load them again in any new function that you create. common.css ignored after upgrading?

Hi; After upgrading from 1.12 to 1.15.1 the styles defined on 'MediaWiki:Common.css' seems to be ignored. It works in other 1.15.1 new installations in the same server. What's the matter? Any idea? -dvdgmz.

Dear All, I have 3 Wikis set up using the W Parameter explained in the below article. http://www.steverumberg.com/wiki/index.php/WikiHelp I have just updated MediaWiki from 1.12 to 1.15. The update has gone as expected for the main wiki but I also need to run the update for the further Wiki database tables using the update.php file. This then updates the other wiki tables with the different W parameter. Any advice would be appreciated. problem with filenames with accented characters when upgrading from 1.13 to 1.15

We're trying to upgrade a French language wiki for educative purposes from 1.13.0 to 1.15.1, and at the same time migrate it to from shared hosting to a dedicated server running Debian. Most things are working fine, except for a weird problem with images with filenames with accented characters. Characters in the texts are working fine however. When #$wgHashedUploadDirectory = false; is commented out images are showing. With $wgHashedUploadDirectory = false; images aren't showing and upload. Sam, By default the Edit/ Show edit toolbar (javascript) is enabled. I just don't see a toolbar when editing? Or do you mean that you have the toolbar but the intended action isn't performed - your message isn't too clear. Dear All I believe when you edit a page in MediaWiki the formatting toolbar allowing font attributes such as bold and italic to be applied (and tables, links to images etc to be created) simply by clicking a button, in much the same way as in MS Word. The toolbar is a standard MediaWiki feature. I have installed MediaWiki which has been running for 9 months. I have tried to apply these features but they do not appear. I believe these are a standard feature in MediaWiki. Can anyone advise?
