For some strange reason, these deleted files were saved...

Well, I don't want to restore them. Just want the wiki to work
normally in the future.
So, can they be safely deleted?

I meant image as in using NetRestore on OSX to create a clone of the
hard drive.

With an image, I can restore the entire server to another computer in
about 10 minutes, and I create an image every week, for safety.

Hi all,
I have a wiki in which I want to make case-insensitive with respect to
titles - so Apple and ApPLe would be the same at the database level
outwards.
I'm planning to alter the `page` table such that the `page_title`
field collates according to a different charset to make this work.
Are there any other concerns code-wise that I should look out for?
Does anyone have experience with making this change, and if so, what
would you recommend?
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
I have some wikis on wiki-site.com. There was a recent upgrade of wiki-site
to version 1.11, and my wikis were also upgraded. After the upgrade, the
export feature seems to have developed some problem. Try:
http://groupprops.wiki-site.com/index.php/Special:Export/Group
You could try exporting other pages; the problem doesn't seem to be
anything to do with the specific page.
The visible text goes:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: http://groupprops.wiki-site.com/index.php/Special:Export/Group
Line Number 1, Column 1:
^
The page source looks like the stuff given at the bottom.
The administrators at wiki-site don't know why this problem is occuring.
Any help/suggestions are welcome,
Thanks,
Vipul

I wish it was that simple. I am moving from one server to another and have been tasked with setting up a new URL schema (done). The issue is that the old schema is used in lots of URLs referenced throughout our websites. I would like to be able to serve up the content requested by the old urls on the new server while we track down the bookmarks and correct them. I will redirect the old alias to the new IP address, but I think what I need to do is a combination of mod_proxy and mod_rewrite.

If that's all you are doing, you could create a small html file that has a
meta tag to redirect everyone to the new URL (without the port number
included).
As for mediawiki, you could just copy the database that you have and upload
it to the new server, re-download Mediawiki to the new server, (make sure
you have PHP5 enabled and running) and the install/configure script will
automatically start using that database.
I don't see any need to meddle with Apache, as all you would be doing is
transferring your domain name to a different IP/nameserver.

I am on a shared server that has PHP installed as CGI (in SuExec mode)
and trying to implement image authorization (using cgi_img_auth.php
because PATH_INFO indeed does not work on this server) as discussed at:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Image_Authorisation#Apache_Instruction…
The htaccess rewrites for cgi_img_auth.php are in conflict with short
URL rewrites (I use exactly that same setup as Wikipedia). Here is the
code for short URL's (unmodified from MW example and working just fine
on my site)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^wiki/(.*)$ w/index.php?title=$1 [PT,L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^wiki/*$ wiki/ [L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^/*$ wiki/ [L,QSA]
Here is the code for cgi_img_auth.php rewrites from the above link
(using the standard images directory, which for short URL's is typically
w/images not wiki/images): Before you ask, I was trying the standard
w/images directory location to isolate the problem, which turned out to
be this htaccess conflict. Eventually, I want to move the images
directory out of public_html, which is the whole point of using image
authorization.
RewriteRule ^/w/images(.*)$ /w/cgi_img_auth.php/$1 [R]
RewriteRule ^w/cgi_img_auth.php/(.*)$ w/cgi_img_auth.php?path=/$1
I can't help thinking someone else must have resolved this conflict. I
just don't know this syntax at all. No Unix background, I'm embarrassed
to say. If someone could help me make these two chucks of htaccess code
cooperate, I would be very grateful.
I'm following the documentation to install MediaWiki on a server. I installed MySQL 5.0.50, PHP 5, Java 1.6.0_04, and Apache Tomcat 5.5.26. I don't understand what I need to do to run the app. I can access the Apache Tomcat admin page. Any additational information on the doc would be very helpful.
In the following examples, it is assumed that your website is located at http://www.example.com/ which is physically located on your server at /home/example/web. You will need to adjust the examples to use the appropriate locations for your situation.
1.. Use your web browser to browse to the main wiki page. This is the web-accessible folder that you installed MediaWiki into, and is typically /wiki (e.g. http://www.example.com/wiki/, assuming you installed MediaWiki to /home/example/web/wiki).
2.. You will be presented with a message telling you that your wiki is installed, but has not yet been configured and that you need to "click here to setup the wiki". Click on the link to begin the configuration script. For reference (in case you want to go there directly), this is located in the wiki's config directory (so using the example above you would go to http://www.example.com/wiki/config/).
3.. If the script spots any configuration errors then it will not allow you to continue. See below for details about the error messages you might encounter, and what to do if you do.
4.. If all the tests pass, you will be presented with a form to fill in the information that MediaWiki now requires. Follow the instructions on the form to fill in the required entries. See below if you need help with any of the items.
5.. Click the "Install!" button. The script will now populate the database and write a configuration file. If any errors occur, go back and check your data - see below for help.

Thanks Herta,
It was exactly that.
I've added $wgLocalTZoffset = date("Z") / 60; to LocalSettings.php and it worked like a charm.

Hello All,
I have this problem with the "Last change" time for wiki pages.
Whenever page is created it's time is OK on clock check.
But when you go to and check "Last changes" you can see that the clock is 2 hours back :(
I'm running gentoo and my clock settings are as following in /etc/conf.d/clock:
CLOCK="GMT"
TIMEZONE="Israel"
CLOCK_OPTS=""
CLOCK_SYSTOHC="no"
SRM="no"
ARC="no"
What could be the problem here?
Best Regards,
Leon
hello,
if I use search function in our mediawiki I often didn't get a result.
e.g. if I search for "vpn" I don't get a result. If I enter "vpn-verbindung" the page is found. If I enter "verbindung" the page will be found as well.
Anyone can explain me why it doesn't work?
We use
* MediaWiki <http://www.mediawiki.org/> : 1.11.0
* PHP <http://www.php.net/> : 5.2.1
* MySQL <http://www.mysql.com/> : 5.0.37
thanks!
